If you have a dial up internet connection, make sure that dial-on-demand is disabled.

Unzip enigma-suite-win98exe-0.75.1.zip Change into the unzipped folder Run (double click) make-rundir.bat |
This creates the folder C:\EnigmaClient with the necessary files.
Double click the Task Scheduler icon in the task bar Double click "Add a task" Click "Next" Browse to C:\EnigmaClient Select ecrun98.bat and click on open Select "When my computer starts" Click "Next" Select "Open advanced properties ..." Click "Finish" Click the "Settings" tab Deselect "Stop the task if it runs for ..." Click "Apply" Click "OK" |
These actions create an entry in the Task Scheduler.
Reboot |
After reboot you should see a minimized MS-DOS window in the task bar.
Fire up the Task Manager: Ctrl-Alt-Del |
If your internet connection is up, and enigma-client has succeeded in getting a workunit from the server, you should see enigma among the processes.
You could use third party tools that list processes or CPU utilization.
Click on the minimized MS-DOS window in the task bar Press Ctrl-C |
Unfortunately you have to stop the program manually before shutting down your machine. If you don't, the program will hang.

You're done now. If you don't want to take part anymore, follow the uninstall instructions.
If the client is running, stop it first:
Click on the minimized MS-DOS window in the task bar Press Ctrl-C |
Remove all files created for the client:
Delete the folder C:\EnigmaClient |
Remove the task from the task scheduler:
Double click the Task Scheduler icon in the task bar Right click ecrun98.bat Click on delete |
That's it, there are no registry entries that have to be removed.
